I wasn't actually aware this was a hat until I read your deviation title more closely and also read your artist comments. I'm unsure as to how this piece would sit on the head. From these views I am guessing it will sit flat with no indent for it to sit a little more naturally on the head. I think should you do anything like this in the future that maybe you should add a little more into the brim part. While it's cute it doesn't seem like it will be too comfortable to wear for a long period of time and I am wondering if there may be some slippage issues even with the strap. (That is a strap yes?). I also think the base could use a little more detailing. Like some nuts and bolts to tie it in with the owl more. Perhaps even adding in some little brackets to make it seem more believable as to how the cage is sitting on the larger copper disk would add a lot to the effect.
The ribbon seems a touch out of place too, but only because I think the brim of the hat needs more detailing to make it seem more like a hat.
Other than that I think this is so cute! It's definitely original. I've honestly never seen something like this before. Very clever idea!
